Welcome to the website of the 12th International Congress of the Brazilian Geophysical Society (12th CISBGf). Back to Rio de Janeiro after the successful 2009 Salvador edition, this year’s event will be held at the brand new SulAmerica Convention Center, in Rio de Janeiro downtown.

Having been chosen to host the World Cup in 2014 and The Olympic Games in 2016, the city of Rio de Janeiro is experiencing a boom of infrastructure projects aimed to turn this naturally beautiful city into a modern metropolis in tune with the world most important cities of the XXI century.

Also, the perspective of a growing oil production based on the huge recent offshore subsalt discoveries, which shall put Brazil in the front line of oil producing countries in a few years, opens unlimited opportunities for geophysic related activities. With specific problems awaiting solutions, Brazil will attract the attention of industries and researchers in many fields of the oil production chain.
